Shower Enclosure Leak Diagnosis: Find the Water Path Before Adding Sealant
Short answer: a puddle outside the shower identifies where water ended up—not where it crossed the enclosure boundary. Dry the area, document the exact product and spray condition, then test one possible path at a time. Do not begin by adding silicone everywhere.

A seven-stage diagnosis
1. Capture the complaint condition
Record the enclosure model, handing, tray or floor model, showerhead type and position, flow setting, door position and where the user stood. Photograph the full installation before close-ups. A diagnosis made under a different spray condition may solve the wrong problem.
2. Dry and mark the baseline
Dry the glass, profiles, tray edge, floor and accessible adjacent surfaces. Place removable dry indicators outside suspected routes where appropriate, without blocking drainage or changing seals. Mark the first wet point on a sketch and record the time it appears.
3. Rule out non-enclosure water

4. Test fixed joints from low to high
Use controlled, low-volume water on one short section at a time. Start at the lowest stationary junction, then move to vertical profiles and corners. Avoid spraying directly into gaps at pressure that normal use would not create.
Record the first crossing point—not only the final puddle. Water can travel inside a channel and exit some distance from the original opening.
5. Test moving seals and door overlap
Check the exact seal profile, cut length, orientation and contact along the full movement. Confirm magnetic seals engage evenly and bottom deflectors face the direction shown in the manual. Observe the door in closed position before adjusting it.
Do not add a second seal or adhesive bead to compensate for a door that is out of level, outside its adjustment range or using the wrong replacement part.
6. Check geometry and drainage routes
Record tray or threshold level, wall plumb, door alignment, profile position and any bottom-track drainage openings. A profile adjustment can affect both door operation and the water path.
